Europe meets Drogeham!

Title of project: “Europe meets Drogeham!”

Period of project: 1st of October 2017 – 1st of October 2018 (12 months)

In 2018, Leeuwarden, the capital of the province of Friesland, is going to be the European Capital of Culture. Linking up to the central theme of ‘iepen mienskip’ (open society), the goal of this EVS project is to connect Fryslân with the rest of the Netherlands and Europe. In cooperation with the local Stichting Buitengebied Drogeham the volunteers will cooperate in organising activities that encourage visitors to look beyond Leeuwarden. A variety of themes can be explored in order to find the links with distant parts of Europe, for example how birds or food travels through Europe.

Tasks of the volunteer:

  • Looking for opportunities to develop activities locally, connected with ‘Leeuwarden, European Capital of Culture in 2018’
  • Seeking cooperation with local organisations
  • Organising meetings
  • Guiding groups of visitors around the farm
  • Taking care of nature, garden and farm animals
  • Activities in the natural surroundings
  • Maintenance of the natural landscape
  • Giving a hand where needed

Expected characteristics of the volunteer:

  • You are curious and dare to think out of the box!

LT EVS under Erasmus + in Italy

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is an experience of international long-term volunteering abroad. It enables young people aged 18 to 30 years to live up to 12 months abroad itself works for a non profit organization.

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is an international volunteer program funded by the European Commission within the program Erasmus + and aims to improve the skills of young people.

The funding of the European Commission includes:

  • Full coverage of the costs of board and lodging of the volunteer
  • reimbursement of travel expenses up to a ceiling
  • comprehensive health insurance for the entire period of volunteering abroad
  • Language training in the destination country

Location: Putignano, Italy

Project dates: September 2017 – August 2018

Hosting institution: A Modo Loro

A Modo Loro is looking for two Volunteers. The Volunteers will be involved in activities at local level with children and adolescents.

The volunteers will be involved in:

  • support in the afterschool programme: open 5 afternoon a week. Here we offer scholastic support to around 30 children and adolescents, in particular to children who live in suburban districts and are exposed to the risk of marginalization;
  • participation in the specific educational support to children with Specific Learning Disabilities;
  • support in the organization of educational and recreational activities structured on objectives of socialization and development of creative and proposal abilities;
  • presence to the canteen service with the educators, children and adolescents of the Center, as an important occasion of socialization, providing good models for the minors;
  • support in the organization and implementation of “R…estate a Putignano”: Summer camp activities offering educational and leisure time activities to children and youngsters also through short trips in the nature and at the seaside.

The ideal volunteer is a young person willing to take part in a project for the development and integration of an entire community in a town in the South of Italy. The EVS volunteer must be willing to collaborate on the education and training project of A Modo Loro. Since this involves a delicate role in contact with young people that often come from complex family situations, the volunteer must be fitted with qualities such as tolerance, patience, firmness, creativity, with good listening ability and willing to work in team.

The travel costs will be reimbursed up to a certain amount amount allocated by the European Commission; accommodation, food and tickets for the local transports are provided by the host organization. The volunteer will also receive pocket money monthly.

– making photo relation about places that will disappear after revitalization and make an exhibition and album in the end

– making workshop for youth and children about interculturality of the city.

Description of Hosting Organization

S&G: System and Generation Association was established in 2008. The aim of our organization is to make young people integrated into the society, encouraging their entrepreneurial spirit, helping them acquire knowledge and qualification, getting them to know young people from different cultures, empowering sympathy and tolerance, improving cooperation and encouraging European cooperation with young people, supporting the cooperation between the international institutions.

The tasks of the volunteers:

  1. Organizing/ assisting /facilitating physical activities for elderly (physical exercises), games, cultural visits, walks in the Nature
  2. Representing his/her culture during cultural events (indoor & outdoor activities)
  3. Participating in fundraising activities (selling handmade stuff in NesilKAFE or NesilKARAVAN)
  4. Organizing workshops (handicraft, cooking, activities with kids)
  5. Organizing service and leisure for elderly
  6. Taking photos, videos about the events, working on video production updating the website of S&G, and working on promotion materials
  7. Organizing cultural events (dance evenings, song evenings, theatre, and music).

Financial Conditions

  • Food Money – € 120 per month (in Turkish currency). Half at the first week of the month, second half on the third week of the month.
  • Pocket Money – € 80 per month (in Turkish currency). Payments will be done in cash within first 5 days of each month.
  • The travel costs will be reimbursed 100% by the coordinator accompanied by the receipt of complete and original tickets.

The volunteer will work 7 hours per day, 5 days per week. Sundays and Mondays are free. Holidays: the volunteer will have two consecutive days off per week and will also have two days of holiday per month for the whole duration of the EVS project. Sometimes the volunteer will give a hand on projects at weekends. In this case, the volunteer will have compulsory days off. Turkish Language Lessons are the compulsory part of the weekly schedule.

Ce este Serviciul European de Voluntariat (European Voluntary Service)?

Programul este initiat de catre Comisia Europeana inca din anul 1996, fiind inclus in toate cadrele multianuale de finantare in domeniul tineretului ale Uniunii Europene. In acest moment Serviciul European de Voluntariat reprezinta Actiunea 2 din cadrul programului Tineret in Actiune (Youth in Action), iar din 2014 va fi integrat in viitorul program Erasmus for All.

Prin intermediul EVS tinerii cu varste cuprinse intre 18 si 30 de ani pot aplica pentru stagii de voluntariat in alte tari ale Uniunii Europene sau din vecinatatea acesteia, pornind intr-o calatorie care le va schimba cu siguranta perspectivele si ii va ajuta sa invete, sa se descopere pe sine, sa cunoasca oameni si culturi noi.

Stagiile pot fi:

  1. Short-term EVS: stagii cu o durata mai scurta de 2 luni
  2. Long-term EVS: stagii cu o durata cuprinsa intre 2 si 12 luni

The project is available for youngsters  between 18 and 30 years.

Kindergarten “Little Angels”

Public nursery and preschool ,, Little Angels” in Krakow began operations on 1 September 2014. Housed in a modern building of high standard. Public nursery and preschool Little Angels accepts children from 2.5 up to 6 years old. Nursery can accommodate up to 56 children. Volunteers take active part in whole range of nursery educational offer including:

  • Everyday activities, preparing additional aids, free play corners and more. One-to-one for children with special educational needs.
  • Permanent additional classes: dancing, ethic, English, sign language, physical education and gymnastics.
  • Special classes: microbiology, economy and robotics.
  • Taking a part in nursery based theatre plays (Eden theatre andUrwis theatre).
  • Occasional workshops: floristry, pottery and art.
  • Meetings with guests: children from other nurseries and schools, local authorities and services including police, fire service and municipal police.
  • Activities including use of modern educational aids (kinetic sand and interactive carpet).
  • Taking part in organizing and running contests in nursery:helping children to prepare for outside competitions.
  • In outdoor activities: nursery gardens, neighborhood walks, school trips to the library, museum, theatre and cinema, Krakow sightseeing, and local area trips (Niepolomice town, “Zaczarowana Zagroda” agroturism, Wieliczka town and mine
  • Taking apart in parents meeting and celebrating mother, father and grandparents day, international family day, Nativity plays, etc.
  • Meetings with specialist including psychologist speech therapists. Volunteers will get acquainted with documents and procedures obligating in nursery.

Accommodation:

You will live with other volunteers in the apartment. You will share the room with another volunteers (rooms for 2 sometimes 3 persons) outside of the city centre. Kitchen and bathroom will be shared with other flatmates. The room will be equipped with basic furniture and the kitchen equipment. You don’t need to bring your own things, like cutlery, plates etc. However you should take the bed-cloths. You might be asked to pay the caution (about 120 €) to the owner of the flat to cover eventual damages. The caution will be given back at the end of the renting period.

Local transport: You will be buying the bus and tram card for all the lines accessible in Krakow, for which the whole amount will be reimbursed.

Language support: You will have formal language training once a week. Coordinating organization will provide books and materials.

Travel costs: from home country to the venue of the project (2nd class/APEX return train ticket) will be reimbursed to the volunteer or to the sending organisation from the coordination organisation in the maximum amount agreed in the grant application to the value of the ticket.

Pocket money will be given to you by the coordinating or ganisation once per a month in the amount of 85 Euros (it’s equivalent in the Polish złoty according to the exchange rate given by the Polish National Agency) to your bank account. Money for food is 400 Polish złoty/month. The coordinating organisation will cover activity costs (taskrelated, linguistic and personal support, mentor, accommodation, food, local transport, administration/communication). The costs of preparation: arranging insurance, staying in contact with the volunteer, evaluation, follow-up, administration /communication will be covered by the sending organization.

Work camps in Spain

PICACHO 2017 SVIAN02-17 Environmental 18-30 20/08/17 – 03/09/17 13

Description of Workcamp:

The main activity of this field is archeology , which will run from Monday to Friday in the morning , from 08.00 to 13.30, with a stop thirty minutes around 10.30 am to eat the sandwich. The methodology to be used will consist of several phases that the approach of the sectors of excavation will start within the specified scope and developed according to the chief archaeologist of the field, the following stages : We will do taks about: – Signposts of trails – Repairing of previuos works on trails – Waste cleaning – Improvements in the entrance of the recreational area of one of the most important Natural Park in Andalucia.

COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES – LEISURE ACTIVITIES:

HUESCA IS LEGEND SVIAR02-17 Cultural- Art camp 18-26 13/07/17 – 27/07/17 12

Description of Workcamp: This work camp will take place in Huesca, a small town (50.000 inhabitants) near the Pyrenees Mountains. The History of Huesca has a vast legacy of legends and tales. The aim of this work camp is spreading this legacy for tourism development through performing arts. So, participants will create and perform dramatized sightseeing routes. At the end of the work camp we will play our show to the audience.

Participants will be accompanied by History and Drama experts during the whole process.

COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES – LEISURE ACTIVITIES:

  • Besides visiting museums, archives or monuments and rehearsing this work camp will offer other activities such as group games to know each other, journeys to the surrounding villages and countryside, Gymkhanas, Photo rally, multicultural dinners, swimming pool…

ACCOMMODATION/FOOD:

  • Accommodation will be held in shared rooms with beds at the Student’s Residence “Santo Domingo” in Huesca which is located in the central district along with the bullring and the university. The residence, with capacity to accommodate more than 20 people in shared rooms, has common areas and dining room with TV. The residence also offers free WiFi access. Participants may help in the general cleaning of common areas.
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be normally served at the residence.
  • The meals are homemade by the residence cook. If you have any allergy or food intolerance please let us know to warn the cook in advance. Some days if we are in a journey or if we have a very tight scheduled we can have a “package lunch” with sandwich and some fruit.

THINGS TO BRING:

  • European Health Card for EU volunteers.
  • Comfortable clothing, sport shoes to walk, ID, swim suit, medicines if it′s necessary. Sheets or sleeping bag (blankets are provided by the residence).

SPECIFIC GOALS:

  • Spread the rich intangible heritage of Huesca for tourist use.
  • Designing a dramatized route in the city of Huesca to disseminate among tourists legends like the legend of The Bell of Huesca or St. George in the Battle of Alcoraz.
  • Give participants tools to create a product that combines historical and touristic aspects.
  • Encourage creativity in young people. They will design and implement dramatized routes.
  • Introduce the chances of employability that performing arts have applied to the tourism sector.
  • Enabling young people from diverse backgrounds coexistence and mutual understanding through a common experience of volunteering
  • To contribute to a project that will reverse in the community such as the retrieval and dissemination of intangible heritage.
  • Encourage cooperative and team work.

PROFILE – COMMITMENT OF PARTICIPANTS:

  • Young people interested in theatre and performing arts. Youngsters who want to have a creative experience in performing arts. Dynamic
  • and active young people who want to share knowledge and emotions with other young people. People want to dig deeper in theatrical and touristic aspects.
  • Although the final perform will be held in Spanish it is no necessary to speak or understand Spanish.

Participation fee is 800 lei.
